Hello - Planning a trip to Knott Island. I've been searching the net without much luck - can you launch a 25' Cruiser Boat from Brumley Ramp and get over to the inter-coastal? I know there are area's of shallow water - but is there a channel?
Also, I read there is a marina there - Bay View, can anyone give me any information on it?
Thanks

Most of us use skiffs or small outboard driven boats. The channel is difficult if you do not know your way around. Even w/ a chart a stern drive will be tough which is what it sounds like you may have. The 'marina' is there and you can just call. Where do you intend to go? Intercoastal or the beach? Where are you staying?

We are just planning on staying on the boat, if not at the marina on Knotts, then Coinjock. Coming down to look at property on Knotts, but our goal is to be able to use our boat often if we purchase. We are ok with taking it over in that area for primary use, as long as we can get there from that ramp. Crossing my fingers?

Try to plan your visit after a period of south breeze. The wind drastically affects the water level here. The average depth of Knotts Island Bay is about 3' so the trick is to "get on top" fast. The local marina is Bay Villa Marina (aka "Pearl's"). The ramp there is probobly more suitable for a 25' boat than the Brumley Rd. ramp, though they're only about 1/4 mile apart. The number there is 252-429-3559. P.S. Gas up your boat somewhere before launching. There is no fuel (or bait) available at the "full service" marina. They do, however, have good beer. ;D
