For the record...I did build a new house. In my defense, I stopped another from being built. People were trying to contact the owner of the lot next door and I swiped the sign. I made a cash offer and took it off of the market. I then split it w/ my neighbor and we had it added to our existing lots. So things could be worse as you could have two of me. I am not too bad though. You two did what all the traumatized KI citizens should have done when the land went up for sale. It's called a conservancy. If they were so set on stopping development, they could've pooled their resources and bought the land for themselves. Novel idea but so much easier to complain than to come off some money and do something about it.

Bob Burns just finished up a new house on my street. It's up for sale but I don't see it being occupied any time soon. Why, you aks? Because the guy next door to it has a bunch of coonhounds that raise hell 24/7/365.

U Dudes are d**n sure quick witted...It's why I tune in now and again...My comment really pertains to progress more than anything else...It's has ruined Topsail Island and we're surrounded by Military Bases...Naval gunfire, Tank ranges, OV-22 Ospreys, Helicopters, C-17's, Etc....And the lots I paid <5K are now valued @ >500k, so it hasn't hurt our RE market or taxes. Hey Billy, U glad to hear for me, or is that a pipe in ur pocket ? ;D ;D

Due to content I never carry my pipe in my pocket. It is hidden under my seat.
You should see me dance. Ta da da boom! Take my wife please.
Honestly, developement here will never be too much. We simply do not have the infrastructure. I took this into account when I moved here. No lights, water, trash service...hell, we don't even have lines on all the roads here.
The other night at the school the issue of public water was addressed. Let's get real folks. Have you tasted the public water on the mainland? My pump more than pays for itself. No thanks.

I would take any one of the noise generators you listed instead of jets. The most beautiful thing in the world is having the windows open on a nice day. It simply was not an option at the oceanfront.
BTW, they are probing this area almost daily now. They used to do this at the beach when they wanted to stretch out and change the 'noise contours.' The goos news (I hope) is that they never turn us into an area where the jet turns. You see, when the jet turns not only does it lose altitude which places it closer to the ground but it rapidly accelerates and the noise is incredible.
If anyone down here thinks they have heard loud yet they are mistaken. The OLF would not be that far from us as the crow flys. The water would no longer shield us from the outside. We would just be that really loud place where it takes a long time to drive anywhere.

Just as loud is a loaded CH-53D on a LZ treetop glide slope at night...Our jets make actual bombing runs, dropping ordinance on targets on Camp lejeune...The good side is that they own 90 % of the river front, precluding development, leaving it natural...I recall that they used to make bombing runs up there too ??

Can anyone give a rundown of the OLF meeting from Saturday? I am out of town and could not attend. I almost delayed my vacation to go to it but the kids were not having it.
