After serving in the US Navy, Scott LaBarge, 46, settled in Knotts Island. Scott went to work at the Ford plant and began raising his family. Scott is blessed with five beautiful kids; Kayla-17, Chelsea-15, twins Conner and Cassie-10 and baby girl Kylie-7. Over the years, Scott has been a member of the Baptist Church, youth group cook at JC's and Conner's little league coach. Scott is just an all around good guy. If you ask Scott to borrow his lawn mower, he comes over with the lawnmower and starts cutting your grass!
Scott enjoyed a long career at Ford, and like many area residents, his life was turned upside down when the Ford plant closed in 2007. Scott struggled to find a job, much less one sufficent to take care of his large family. Just this year, Scott took a steady position with a local overhead door company. Scott has been working all the hours he can jus trying to get his feet back under himself and to hopefully give his kids the lifestyle which they once knew.
On October 29, Scott suffered severe heart touble. He was immediatly taken in for a double bypass and made it out of surgery ok. He is expected to make a full but long recovery. He will need the help of his community in order to full through this for his kids. As Scott's friends, we want to help and we hope you will too!
