Let me try. Isn't the part that makes him difficult to understand is the lack of absolutes. As in his approach to logic. So, using the standard of 'if x, then X', he pointed out the contradictions are part of the process. That what makes something, may be part of an evolving idea. Therefore, what is may not be.
Circular thought process anyone?

The dynamics of contradiction and change are certainly the basis for his thought.
I wonder if we could see the process in action while observing the personalities and societies in current events.
