We are in the process of buying a house off Newbern Dr. (Gibbs Woods) and I was wondering how that area is? I have a 13 yr old daughter and 1 1/2 yr old son so I would also like to know if the school systems are good out this way. Is there anyone in this area that does flooring/carpet? We will need a handy man for sure!

Its a descent area.... somewhat... We always considered it "the ghetto" of the Gibbs Woods area... but alot of the people who made it that way have moved out of the area.... Schools are good in this area, your daughter will most likely be going to Moyock Middle School or Currituck High School, bus ride sucks for both.

Also there is a guy named Roy Grimstead who does carpeting over there. I will find his number and get back to you.

I hope we are not buying a house "in the ghetto". Geesh I would hate to move from Great Bridge to a ghetto area lol. I mean... we are buying a house on an acre of land... How ghetto can living in the middle of no where be?

Well, I haven't driven down the road far or anything. We are buying a house that is literally right across the NC line. No neighbors near me as far as I can see have anything in their yard other than nice landscaping. All I care about is what my house/yard looks like. I don't judge others. As long as no one bothers me I will be fine

Gut God. Ghetto? There's lots to observe on the island too.
Just plant a big hedge row along your property lines. natural blinders. Ignorance is bliss, you know.

The buzzards that steal children and pets would be a bigger concern to me

My husband already said he is planting a hedge row down the fence on both sides of the yard lol Well, the house is having a new roof put on, plumbing updated, new flooring, new hvac system, insulation removed and reinstalled, new siding & windows and we are improving the landscaping so I hope to improve the appearance of the street a little Then we move on to interior stuff.. maybe in a few years we will have it like we want

We have the children wear tin hats. Seems to help.
